The 2012 Beaune Les Grèves is incredibly powerful and energetic in this vintage. Dark red and black cherries, smoke and tobacco emerge from the glass over time, but today it is the wine's tannin and overall structure that dominate. The Grèves is likely to

Dense pear and red peach skin flavors give this wine a cool tone. Impacted with fruit, the generous fullness of the wine is balanced by equally rich lemony acidity. The lasting impression is dark and smoky, seeming to hold complexities that will emerge with bottle age.

Here too there is a note of pain grillé that serves as a backdrop for the layered nose of spiced pear, lavender, rose petal and apple. There is impressive intensity to the precise, clean and very crisp light to middle weight flavors that culminate in a balanced and bone dry finish. I really like the sense of energy and this is much better than what one typically finds in villages level Beaune whites, and as such it's worth considering.

The 2010 Beaune is rounder and softer than the Cotes de Beaune but with plenty of the trademark 2010 acidity and minerality to back things up. Lemon, crushed rocks and spices wrap around the rich, generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.

Here an exceptionally fresh nose of citrus peel and white flowers merges seamlessly into rich and nicely detailed flavors that possess lovely intensity and an attractively dry finish that offers notably better depth and more length as well. This offers fine quality for its level. (87-90)/2013+
